  • In order to advocate effectively, you need knowledge.  It will take time and effort.  It means getting to the root of the issue and finding out what is causing it then finding solutions. Advocacy skills are tools you will need to learn for your child, so they can in turn, advocate for themselves as they get older.  It doesn't mean screaming and yelling to get what you want.

If you are struggling with how to advocate, courses are available, you can hire advocates to teach you, and books are available such as "Exceptional students, Ordinary Schools" by Dr. Norm Forman.
